Today has been an interesting day. I set my alarm to go off a little earlier than usual because I wanted to clean the house and start reading my book I got from the library last night. I also had to make lunch for myself because I wasn’t coming home to eat. I rarely sleep in past my alarm, but I turned the alarm off after it sounded and didn’t get up till 7:25! I was freaking out, running around the house trying to tidy up for the “Bond Inspection” today. We have to hide Kaya when people come into the apartment because we’re not allowed to have her in there. I don’t know what they do in the “bond inspection” but I wanted the apartment to look decent. I ended up getting pretty much everything done that I wanted to, including brushing my hair and putting some clothes on. I finished just in time to leave for work at 7:45. These are the days when I am glad I don’t wear makeup and I don’t do my hair.
Work is work, it always is. Some days are better than others. This morning was particularly slow. There are pros and cons of work being slow. One pro: no stress. One con: boring.
On my lunch break I ran over to Michael’s to buy some wood craft sticks for a service project that the Young Women started and I am finishing. I was determined to go in, only buy the sticks, and leave. Of course that didn’t happen; I ended up buying some great colored paper and a cool pen. I also bought a mini hot glue gun (I know, random). The rest of my lunch was spent sitting in the car reading my book. I am always amazed at how knowledge transfers into your brain. Reading is so great.
The afternoon at work picked up a little. It was the perfect pace. Not busy enough to have a constant interruption of what I am doing, but a nice steady flow of students coming in.
I have been anxious all day wondering if the hiding spot we put Kaya in will be good enough. I also wonder if they will hear her eating or drinking as they walk through. I am excited to see her when I get home. Sometimes when I walk in the door, Eric will be holding Kaya waiting to greet me after my day at work, it’s really cute.
Eric wants to go on a bike ride after work today. I have mixed feeling about this. But I will go and it will be enjoyable. On Eric’s birthday he asked me to do 3 things this week: one – go on a bike ride with him, two – play tennis with him, three – go running once. These were his birthday wishes (my present to him) and all I could do was try and grant them to the best of my abilities. I have completed 2 of the 3 tasks. After the bike ride tonight, I will have kept my commitment (which is sometimes, something hard for me to do).
The day started out gorgeous with beautiful blue skies and not a cloud in sight. As I look out the window it has changed; the wind has blown in a slight haze. Oh and The Office is on tonight.
