Thanksgiving 2011

Originally we weren't going to go anywhere for Thanksgiving because traveling with 2 newborns did not sound like fun. But trying to take care of 2 newborns alone became too much for us to handle and we needed some help so we decided to make the drive to CA for Thanksgiving. It was the first time my family met the boys as well.

We had a great weekend full of help, good food and wonderful family.

Park City

A couple weeks ago we spent a fun and beautiful weekend at the Marriott Mountainside in Park City with my family. We spent a day at the park celebrating Mazie's 1st birthday, we spent a day at the Park City Mountain Resort, we swam and we also ate lots of yummy food!

seven years

a couple weeks ago e and i went camping for our seventh year anniversary. we drove to the mogollon rim for some cooler air and beautiful scenery {it was also our last weekend with rusty}.

we drove up on friday afternoon and set up camp. e and rusty went for a little mountain bike ride and then we had delicious tin foil dinners that night. early saturday morning e and rusty went on a 10 mile trail run in the mountains. after that we headed to willow springs lake. we hiked down to the lake and jumped in. it was so refreshing and fun {rusty even jumped in}.

after our time at the lake we went back to our site and then took off from there on a little hike to another lake {woods canyon lake} that we had been told had bald eagles nesting in the surrounding trees. when we got to the shore of the lake, the AZ game and fish department had high powered telescopes set up to check out the nest. there was a 12 week old bald eagle in the nest! and not 5 minutes later the mom bald eagle showed up too. we got to watch them together in the nest and it was one of the coolest things we have ever seen. to see those beautiful birds out in the wild was amazing. we stayed there for a good 30 minutes checking them out then headed back to camp. we had hot dogs and chili that night over the fire. sunday morning e went for a short mountain bike ride and then we headed home. it was another great anniversary spent camping.

utah {days eight, nine, ten and eleven}

Our time in Utah was so great, the weather was nice and the company was the best. We just hung out on Thursday and visited/played with the kids. Thursday night we drove to Alpine and hung out/ate Cafe Rio  with the Segura's {friends from when we lived in Redlands}. That was so fun {sadly no pictures though}!

Friday we did more of the same. Hung out, went swimming, jumped on the tramp. We also had a delicious family dinner and celebrated Natalie's birthday {we had yummy cupcakes too}!
Saturday morning we took Sam on a hike to Dog Lake. It was a little chilly but he did awesome {we hiked 4 miles}.

We spent Saturday afternoon chilling at Curt and Anne's and then in the evening went to E's 10 year high school reunion at The Point in the Huntsman Cancer Institute. It was interesting. Not very many people showed up which we were a little bummed about. But it was good food and the view from The Point is stunning.

Sunday we went to church and then headed over to Curt and Anne's for a family BBQ {i can not get over how stinking cute and precious pa and elise are together on that swing}. That evening we got dropped off at the airport and made our way home to HOT Phoenix.

What an awesome trip. I love traveling and I love family and this trip was full of both. Thanks to everyone for making our vacationing so amazingly wonderful.

p.s. i start my new job in the student life department at chandler-gilbert community college on monday... i'm a little nervous but mostly excited!

last day in philly {day seven}

wednesday august 11th was our last day in philly {tear}. we just spent the day packing and relaxing and getting ready for our flight in the afternoon. i took some really cute pictures of gracie right before we left for the airport.

we loved our trip, it was so great and everything i hoped for. we loved getting to spend so much time with the morris' and we loved exploring all the new areas. we actually never ended up going to downtown philly, which i find very ironic. but it just gives us a reason to go back!

we had a direct flight to utah and sam came with us, which was so fun. he was awesome on the flight and we got into SLC wednesday night.
